Faith, Stewardship, and the Wise Use of AI
Many believers ask me a fair question: Should Christians be using artificial intelligence at all? I believe the better question is: How can we use it wisely, as faithful stewards?
Every tool is a stewardship question
From the printing press to the radio to the internet, God's people have used new tools to spread the Gospel, serve others and build. Each of those tools could also be misused. AI is no different. The tool itself is not the issue — the heart and the purpose of the one using it is.
"Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful." — 1 Corinthians 4:2
Three principles for wise use
1. Steward your time
Time is one of the most precious resources God gives us. If AI can handle in ten minutes what used to take two hours, that is time you can redirect to family, prayer, people and purpose.
2. Keep truth and integrity first
AI can make mistakes and can sound confident while being wrong. Always check important facts. Never use AI to deceive, to cut ethical corners or to present someone else's work as your own. Integrity is not negotiable.
3. Keep people at the center
AI can help draft a letter, but it cannot love a person. Use technology to free yourself for the relational, pastoral and personal work that only you can do.
Practical guardrails
- Do not paste private or confidential information into AI tools.
- Review and personalize everything before you share it.
- Use AI to assist your thinking, not to replace your prayer, judgment or conviction.
Multiply your impact
When we use tools wisely, we can do more good with the same hours and resources. That is the heart behind my course Work Smarter, Not Harder with AI on Your Side — practical training for business owners and ministry leaders who want to steward their time and talents well in a changing world.
